Westside Modern Refuge

Description

This 2022 new-build offered abundant square footage but little inherent personality. After losing their previous home in the fires - a home we had spent five years thoughtfully renovating - our clients needed to transition quickly. The new structure was clean and spacious, but lacked the warmth, character, and lived-in comfort they were accustomed to. Our goal was to honor their past while helping them embrace a new beginning.

Design Approach

Rather than simply filling rooms with furniture, we focused on meaningful layers that would humanize the tall, boxy architecture. Custom wall treatments and window coverings added depth and texture, while a curated palette - some hues intentionally reminiscent of their beloved former home - brought familiarity and emotional comfort. Curves, soft textiles, and warm materials were introduced to counterbalance the home’s sharp lines, creating a gentle, inviting flow throughout.

Outcome

The result is a home that feels both fresh and deeply personal. The structure remains modern and new, but the layers of color, texture, and custom detailing give it a sense of history and heart. Each room now feels collected, comfortable, and quietly luxurious - an environment that represents healing, continuity, and a beautiful new chapter for the family.
