Westside Spanish Revival

Description

This 1930s California Spanish featured lovely original details like a fireplace and exposed beams, but the floor plan didn’t function for contemporary life. The kitchen, dining room, bathrooms, and laundry felt cramped and disconnected. We reimagined the layout, balancing respect for historic character with a refreshed sense of flow.

Design Approach

Original details like trusses and a fireplace were amplified, while new doors and windows maximized natural light. Additions included a luxurious primary suite, powder room, and proper walk-in laundry. Spanish-patterned tiles nod to the architecture, tying the old and new together seamlessly.

Outcome

This California Spanish was updated for modern family life with tailored finishes, fixtures, and furnishings. Layered styling and window treatments bring sophistication with a relaxed edge.
